In The Spotlight - Eddie Newton

How long have you been performing in shows
Since may 2008

What got you interested in music / theatre
I've always been interested in music plus musicals but never thought about doing theatre work at all

What was your first show
My first show was the full monty with Christ church theatre company

What has been your favourite show and/or character and why
That would have to be the full monty, my favourite show that I've done but my favourite character would have to be Rudolph in hello dolly, where I got to play a trumpet as well as sing 1 of favourate songs

What has been your most embarassing or funniest moment in a show
I've had 2 embarassing moments on stage, the first was when I came out to say my lines at the start of ragtime and I forgot the words half way through saying it and then I just froze on stage, the other was doing hello dolly, when I was in mid conversation with Paul costello and all I could say was but but
The funniest was the last night of the full monty, where my strap to the mic pack came through the slot on my long johns

Describe the best and worst costumes you have had to wear

every costume I've worn have been amazing, I've not had any I could call the worst of each other, I like the waiters costume in hello dolly, I don't know why but I felt like a refined gent, as well as the costume in ragtime, it gave me an idea of what type of style I'd like for my wedding

What has been your proudest moment
My proudest moment was on the last night of ragtime, each night I ended without finishing my line correctly, but the final night I told shane I'll not let him down, as I said my lines near the end I came off and cried that I had done it correctly

If you could choose any show to perform in, what would it be and why
Oh it would have to be the wizard of oz, the reason being I've loved that film from since I were a kid and the lion is the part I would like to play, he shows in my books of a character changing from a coward to a hero

Do you have any plans to pursue theatre as a career
I don't know, I like it a lot but there are only a few characters a black bloke can be but other than that I'd have to say yes
