In The Spotlight - Rowan Beaumont

Rowan Beaumont How long have you been performing in shows
I've been doing dancing shows since I was 4, but my I was in my first musical when I was 8, which was 8 years ago.

What got you interested in music / theatre
My Mum tells me that when I was 6 she took me to see LAOS' production of 'Annie' and I was absolutely engrossed in it so she took me to some auditions to be one of the children in 'The King and I' and it went from there!

What was your first show
My first show was 'The King and I' with Christchurch when I was 8. My first show with Greasepaint was 'Joseph' which was when I was 10.

What has been your favourite show and/or character and why
My favourite show was ACTone's production of 'Les Miserables' where I played Cosette. It was just an amazing show to be a part of!!

What has been your most embarassing or funniest moment in a show
In ACTone's 'Footloose' in February, in the middle of a scene, I had to knee slide across the stage throw my arms out wide and sing a gospel ad lib of "THANK YOU LORD!" which was meant to be funny, but it just wasn't.

If you could choose any show to perform in, what would it be and why
'The Lion King'. I couldn't love the show more.

Do you have any plans to pursue theatre as a career
I don't plan on pursuing theatre as a career but I hope to always be involved with amateur dramatics as a hobby.
