In The Spotlight - Alex Halford

I've always loved performing, but my first show was 'Beauty and the Beast' in 2011, I was only 10 and I played Chip, the teacup.
What got you interested in music / theatre
I've been performing since before I can remember! Running around the house pretending to be characters like 'Noddy' and 'Bob the Builder'. In 2010 we saw that there was an opportunity to play the role of Chip in Beauty and the Beast, and so I auditioned! And since then I've been in shows like 'The Sound of Music','Peter Pan', 'Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat' and 'Seussical, The Musical'
What has been your favourite show and/or character and why
My favourite character was JoJo, in 'Seussical' as it was my biggest role to date, and it was a character I that could relate to easily, a dreamer who likes to go against the flow of things, even if it gets him into trouble.
What has been your most embarassing or funniest moment in a show
Running through the auditorium, screaming at the top of my lungs, and then running on to the stage and tripping over, banging my head!
What has been your proudest moment
Walking out of the theatre after Seussical. Just seeing all my closest friends and my family, all smiling and congratulating me.
If you could choose any show to perform in, what would it be and why
There's so many great characters, that it's hard to pick one. But I would probably choose Gavroche in 'Les Misérables'.
Do you have any plans to pursue theatre as a career
I don't know about a career in theatre, but I would like to work in the performing arts industry. But only time will tell.
