In The Spotlight - Oliver Halford

Oliver Halford How long have you been performing in shows
I've done school plays and things like that but my first proper show was in 2012 when I was 9 so about two years now.

What got you interested in music / theatre
What got me interested was when my brother Alex started to do shows. After that I realised I would like to join in with the fun.

What was your first show
My fist show was Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat with Starlight Youth Theatre, in which I played the youngest brother Benjamin. I really enjoyed it and after that knew that I would keep performing.

What has been your favourite show and/or character and why
My favourite show that I have done would probably have to be Seussical because of its great atmosphere and fun songs, or Peter Pan because it was the first show I was in with a principal role which I particularly enjoyed especially getting the chance to fly across the stage and singing in the air.

What has been your most embarassing or funniest moment in a show
In Summer Holiday I was supposed to lifted up on the jack in the mechanic scene but it didn't work one night.

Describe the best and worst costumes you have had to wear
I'm not sure what my worst one would be because I've not done enough shows to have one but the best would defiantly have to be my 'Who' costume from Seussical because of its bright colours and the amazing hat. I remember Gill giving it to me at rehearsal the week before the show and I wore it all that evening.

What has been your proudest moment
Getting the part of Michael in Peter Pan, I really didn't expect to get the role as it was my first show with Greasepaint.

If you could choose any show to perform in, what would it be and why
It would definitely have to be Les Miserables because its just such a great musical with amazing songs.

Do you have any plans to pursue theatre as a career
I would like to but I know it is very hard to get into the industry.
