In The Spotlight - Felicity James

Felicity James How long have you been performing in shows
I haven’t been performing in shows for all that long. During my school years I had a keen interest in musical theatre and took part in school productions. University life followed by a hectic shift pattern at work then took over. Itching to give it a go, I joined Greasepaint Productions in November 2012. It’s a fantastic group and everyone has been so welcoming and supportive

What has been your favourite show and/or character and why
My favourite show I have been part of has to be ‘Acorn Antiques’. I played the part of Bonnie, which was a great character to get my teeth stuck into. I had the most amazing hairstyle every night, created by a very talented (and patient!) person backstage.
The show itself is hilariously funny and the rest of the cast were brilliant to work with. I still miss my sisters, Babs and Berta, and of course, the hilarious Mrs O!

What has been your most embarassing or funniest moment in a show
I’m sure something embarrassing happens to me in every show! But perhaps one of the most embarrassing things was when I was standing on a chair singing ‘Once in a Lifetime’. I could hear the chair cracking and breaking right under my feet!!

If you could choose any show to perform in, what would it be and why
If I could choose any show to perform in, it would most definitely be ‘WICKED’. It is a brilliant show with such fantastic music. I chose ‘Popular’ for my audition piece to become a member of Greasepaint.
One of the first shows I performed in during my school years was ‘The Wizard of Oz’, when I played the part of Glinda. It would be amazing to be cast as Glinda again, in a completely different musical!
