In The Spotlight - Alix Larter
How long have you been performing in showsI joined an amateur company back home in Stevenage when I was 11 and have performed since. I did a dance degree at DMU and performed at the curve through that and got a 2:1 degree
What got you interested in music / theatre
I went to see Phantom of the opera in London and that was the first proper show I had seen and I fell in love with theatre since then. But I had been going to dance classes since I was 3, doing ballet, tap and modern.
What was your first show
My first show was west side story a LONG time ago when I first started performing. I have since done lots of shows in different theatres back home and in Leicester.
What has been your favourite show and/or character and why
My favourite show had to be sister act at the curve. Performing there was an amazing experience with lots of my closest friends. Although the best part I have ever played was Wendy in Peter Pan. It's one of my all time favourite children's stories and it was magical to play that role.
What has been your most embarassing or funniest moment in a show
Embarrassing moment has to be in sister act when we had to roll down a colourful part of our costume that had been hidden and I had clipped mine on backwards so when I rolled it down I was still in my all black nun habit and everyone else was all colourful and glittery!
Describe the best and worst costumes you have had to wear
Best costume would be my Fame costume as I LOVE 80s style ! Worst would be my nun habit in sister act as it was too long and I let tripping over plus it was THE most sweatiest costume! Haha
What has been your proudest moment
Obviously the birth of mine and James' beautiful son! But performing wise it would be when I auditioned for my first society in Leicester after having a break from theatre and singing solo in front of the judging panel, singing solo was something I had never really done!
If you could choose any show to perform in, what would it be and why
I would love to be in legally blonde as it's the all time chick flick musical!
Do you have any plans to pursue theatre as a career
No plans to persue a performing career anymore but love keeping it as a hobby.
